Yoga Teacher Training Dates Confirmed 

Jill Lawson and Wendy Griffin Mazzuca are teaming up to offer a Yin and Yang (heart and core) yoga teacher training program. Dates TBA

This is a Yoga Alliance approved curriculum. Graduates will earn the ability to become a registered yoga teacher through the Yoga Alliance registry of esteemed yoga teachers. No yoga experience is necessary to attend, and the desire to be a yoga teacher is not a requirement. The course is designed to enhance the understanding of the human body through intensive study of anatomy for yoga, and an exploration into the mind through the heart of yoga philosophy.


About Jill :

Jill’s extensive background in kinesiology, anatomy, and biomechanics comes through in her teachings. She has led five yoga teacher training courses as well as trained and certified fitness and aerobics instructors, personal trainers, and has taught several exercise science and kinesiology classes at the University of New Mexico and Texas State University as a graduate teaching assistant. She believes there is an underlying source of joy in everyone, and strives to connect with, and hold space for all that is joyful, happy, and positive.


About Wendy:

Wendy has completed many years of advanced training in Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra. In addition to being a yoga teacher, she is a licensed massage therapist, nurse, and herbalist. Her presentations are heart centered and invite students to develop body and energy awareness through a yin practice and body meditation. She holds a space for others to find the connection between what happens on the mat and what happens in everyday life. The focus of her classes center around quieting the mind and exploring the movement of energy flow though the body. She leads people to follow their “inner teacher” and supports the process for teaching this to others.


Course outline:

As per Yoga Alliance guidelines, 12 yoga classes outside of class are required to earn the 200-hr yoga teacher certificate. These classes are of the participants choosing, and at their own expense.

Jill will cover anatomy for yoga, plus introduce the historical timeline of yoga, including pertinent philosophies, from the Indus River Valley to present day yoga in America. She will also break down the elements of a Yang yoga practice (sun salutations, standing poses, and vinyasa flow sequencing). She will be the lead teacher through mid-September.

Wendy will break down the elements of Yin yoga, including analysis and benefits of poses, breathing techniques, and meditation. She will share in her knowledge of Ayurveda, chakras and meridians, as well as incorporate means to integrate the knowledge of yoga philosophy into our daily practices. Wendy will be the lead teacher beginning mid-September.

Together, Jill and Wendy have created a unique niche in the world of yoga teacher training. They plan on offering this balanced Yin and Yang yoga curriculum in a multitude of places, in a yoga retreat type setting. You have the opportunity to take their special class right here at home. We’d love for you to join us!


New dates TBA. Tentative schedule example: 

Fridays, we’ll meet and participate in the 5:30pm Yoga Happy Hour class. After class, we’ll have a lecture and/or group participation exercise in yoga anatomy and/or philosophy.

Saturdays, we’ll begin with a lecture, followed by a movement class to “un-sit” the body (from all that learning!) We’ll take a half-hour meal break, and continue with a workshop style yoga class of pose breakdowns and fine-tuning our personal practice, and/or participate in breathing techniques (pranayama) meditation techniques, and integration of yoga as a lifestyle.

The commitment is 12 hours a week, plus 12 classes outside of the course. Cost is $2300, paid in full or four payments of $575. Price includes course textbook and an organized study notebook. Homework, journaling, and additional reading is expected. A final exam will be given at the end of the course. A graduation ceremony will celebrate the conclusion of the class.
